"Cluck, Pluck, and Luck" - Delmarva's Early Chicken Years

Georgetown, DE - Oct. 02, 2014 -- Delmarva Poultry Industry, Inc. has embarked upon an exciting new project to capture the history of the local chicken industry and we seek your support.

We are working with the non-profit Berkana, Center for Media and Education, Inc. and 302 Stories, Inc., a Delaware-based documentary production company, to produce a 60-minute television documentary about the early years of Delmarva's chicken industry. This video documentary is building upon research these organizations have been conducting on the history of the chicken industry. Funded in part by the Delaware Humanities Forum, this documentary complements the 1998 history book produced by DPI.

A sneak peak at parts of the full length documentary for presentation at local theatres, on television (both locally and nationally), and through libraries, schools, meetings, and individually-distributed DVDs can be viewed here.

To make this happen by early 2015, DPI has pledged financial support of up to $7,500 to match money donated by DPI members and friends. But DPI can only provide assistance if our members and friends like you make tax-exempt contributions.

We believe this is a great initiative to make more people aware of our industry's history and importance. Also, it could bring back a lot of memories for persons who have been part of Delmarva's chicken industry.

302 Stories, Inc. and Berkana, Center for Media and Education, Inc. have made several highly professional documentaries that you can learn about at http://berkanacenter.com/.

We hope you will make a tax-deductible contribution by November 15, 2014 so this project will be completed in the spring of 2015. Any size gift, as much as $500 or as low as $25, will entitle the donor to a copy of the documentary and an invitation to attend a premier public showing. Click here to make your credit card donation.

Thank you for considering this opportunity. Spread the word and encourage others to be part of this historical program.
