DPI Hosts First 2014-2015 Lunch and Learn Session

Delmarva Poultry Industry, Inc. has begun its series of five Lunch and Learn sessions supported by the United Soybean Board and America's soybean farmers.

These sessions for community leaders are intended to share information about the Delmarva chicken industry so they have a better idea about its role and importance to the peninsula.

The first session was held in Accomack County, Virginia on November 18 with about two dozen community leaders. DPI and its members shared information about the economic importance of the chicken industry, how the industry operates, educational and outreach programs, and challenges we face.

Upcoming Lunch and Learn sessions will be held next month at two locations in Maryland and after the first of the year at two sites in Delaware.

DPI's Director of Education and Consumer Information Connie Parvis spoke about our middle school curriculum we recently developed and have begun sharing with teachers in the region. It also was funded by the United Soybean Board. Details are available elsewhere on DPI's website.
