Recruitment Begins for New DPI Electric Buying Group

Enrollment Necessary by August 31, 2015


Georgetown, DE - Aug. 04, 2015 -- Over the last 10 years, DPI members served by Delmarva Power have saved more than one million dollars on their electric costs through DPI's seven Electric Buying Groups. Now, it's time to form #8.

This money saving program is available to qualified DPI members served by Delmarva Power. DPI's electric consultant Ed Jackson with Affinity Energy Management will seek multi-year electric prices from 3rd party suppliers and select the one that is the best deal for DPI members.

As in previous years, the 2015 Electric Buying Group will provide an opportunity for savings for chicken growers, other business members of DPI, and large residential electric buyers served by Delmarva Power (i.e. minimum average monthly electric bill of $500 based on 12 months of bills). DPI's current Electric Buying Group is the largest electric aggregation buying group on the Delmarva Peninsula with more than 500 DPI-member accounts included in the group.

We are expecting to execute a three year electricity supply contract at a flat, fixed price that will cover the period of November 2015 through November 2018. The length of the contract will depend upon energy market prices this autumn, but we hope to lock-in a new rate below the current Delmarva Power default tariff supply rates.

We will be soliciting licensed electric suppliers through a competitive bidding process this summer and plan to execute contracts by early October. To qualify for the Electric Buying Group, participants must be a July 1, 2015 - June 30, 2016 DPI member by October 1, 2015 with a minimum dues payment of $150. Anything less and anything after October 1, 2015 does not meet program qualifications. Dues payments MUST be in the DPI office by October 1. We are unable to accept pledges and cannot wait until chicken company flock deductions in early 2016. Additionally, participants agree to be a DPI member with a minimum annual dues payment of $150 for each year of the electric buying group.

Participants in the soon-to-expire DPI Electric Buying Group will have no application fee to re-enlist in the program as long as they provide Affinity Energy Management their updated Power of Attorney so Affinity Energy Management can execute the new electric supplier's contract on their behalf. That Power of Attorney form must be received at the DPI offices by August 31, 2015.

DPI members currently in the Electric Buying Group who prefer not to provide Affinity Energy Management with the optional Power of Attorney are required to pay a $25 processing fee per member to be part of the next aggregated buying group. This $25 fee, payable to Affinity Energy Management, is required to be paid up-front, regardless of whether you actually accept the winning supplier's final contract offer rate or change electric suppliers when the entire group executes a new electric supply contract in early October.

Hundreds of DPI members have saved more than $1 million through the previous DPI Electric Buying Groups and we're hoping to lock in another electric supply contract at or below the current/expiring contract rate.
