DPI Challenges Assateague Coastkeeper to Tell the Truth

Delmarva Poultry Industry, Inc. has notified the Board of Directors of the Assateague Coastal Trust, the group associated with the Assateague Coastkeeper, that a posting on the coastkeeper Facebook page on July 15, 2015 contains false information about Delmarva Poultry Industry, Inc. and Executive Director Bill Satterfield.

The letter reminded the board of the federal judge's opinion about the coastkeeper during that group's 2012 federal Clean Water Act lawsuit against two family owned Eastern Shore chicken businesses. Judge William Nickerson wrote, "the Court observed in her testimony and her conduct a certain "ends justifies the means" approach, where truth can be "spun" to achieve a desired goal."

The most recent example of incorrect information from the coastkeeper was false allegations against DPI and Mr. Satterfield about activities during the July 14, 2015 meeting of the Somerset County Commissioners.

The DPI letter called upon the Assateague Coastal Trust to "cease and desist" disseminating false information about Delmarva Poultry Industry, Inc. and its executive director.
